It's all coming up roses for SHG

Giant orange roses sprouted overnight at the intersection of Republic and William Nicol Roads at the weekend. These two-and-a-half metre tall roses with their enormous velvety petals were in fact a gift to Joburg from Sonnenberg Hoffmann Galombik (SHG).

In keeping with their philosophy of "problem solved - expect the unexpected", SHG embarked on a novel "rose" campaign with advertising group TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris and public relations firm Magna Carta, to 'firmly root their presence in Joburg cement', while at the same time providing much needed comic relief to beleaguered motorists.

Piet Faber, executive chairman of SHG, says: "What defines today's leaders is their ability to innovate. To succeed, you have to think differently from the rest and forge ahead with a new approach to break through the old barriers.

"Solutions to legal problems are often found by exploring new avenues which fall outside a traditional approach to law. At SHG, we focus on creating just such solutions."

SHG has the largest tax department of any South African law firm - and was named the top law firm to offer tax advice in South Africa by the International Tax Review's World Tax 2005 survey.

SHG was rated first in the large legal firms category of PMR's 2005 survey of South African legal firms. It was described as "one of the very few law firms to have been successfully transformed" in UK legal publication, In Brief in April 2005.
