Koenderman calls for advertising quotes
“Over about 10 years I've accumulated more than 1600 quotes from around the world, and they are going to be published in a book later this year,” says Koenderman. “They include words of wisdom from David Ogilvy to Leo Burnett, and from Bill Bernbach to Charles Saatchi.”
In the meanwhile, he's using the collection to run a competition to attract people to the dedicated AdReview blog, which went live last week. Enter the “Who Said It?” competition and you may go into a draw for one of 10 tickets to the AdReview Awards banquet on 24 April 2008.
Four ways to enter
There are four ways to enter: guess the author of a quote, which will change at regular intervals; submit your own quote by an international advertising figure; submit a quote from a South African ad person; and make up your own quote, which will be attributed to you.
The rewards, apart from the draw for tickets, may be to be named as Quotemaster of the Week, or to have your contribution included in the book – where you'll be credited.
A foreword to the book has been written by WPP chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell.
“I'm hoping the competition will attract people to the website, apart from having a little bit of fun,” says Koenderman. “The website is dedicated to providing information and entry forms for the AdReview Awards and the publication.”
Tickets on sales
For the first time, tickets to the AdReview Awards will be on sale. A limited number of free invitations will be extended, but if you want more, you'll have to pay – or win a ticket. Seats cost R850 per head, or R7500 for a table of 10.
