    Rhodes launches alumni mag

Rhodes Magazine is launching an alumni magazine in April this year to coincide with the university's 2006 graduation ceremony. The publication has a strong focus on independent editorial, with a cutting-edge magazine design.

Corporate communications group Ince, is to launch the magazine, which will have an initial circulation of 25 000 copies and will be posted to the university's alumni base.

"The major focus for the magazine is to create something Rhodes alumni will read, a true case of why read this magazine as opposed to any mainstream consumer title," Rhodes executive director for development Kerry Swift says.

"Traditionally alumni titles have tended to fall flat in terms of content, and a strong focus on making this work has created a publication which we hope will stand against any other offering on the newsstands.

Ince Custom Publishing divisional general manager Dustin Chick says: "In partnering with an institution such as Rhodes University, Ince was able to use its full service custom publishing offering, complimented by its in-house production capabilities to create a highly cost-effective custom magazine."

The magazine is edited by freelance journalist Danette Breitenbach.
