Senior Data Analyst/Engineer

A group with an in-house system that runs all their businesses, from life insurance to unit trusts, including bringing impact farming to utilities management, is seeking a skilled data analyst/engineer. This modern and versatile system is their pride and the secret to their success. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders, including business owners, project managers, and partners in IoT, ML, and ICT.

Responsibilities

Data collection and analysis

• Gather, clean, and analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Utilise statistical methods to interpret data and generate meaningful reports.

Reporting and visualisation

• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports for key stakeholders.
• Communicate complex data findings in a clear and understandable manner.

Data quality assurance

• Implement and maintain data quality processes to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address data discrepancies and issues.

Database engineering/management

• Work with MSSQL databases to extract, transform, and load data as needed.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, computer science) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a data analyst/engineer with five years’ experience.
• Proficient in data analysis tools and programming languages, with emphasis on Microsoft T-SQL.
• Experience with data visualisation tools.
• Industry-specific knowledge in finance is beneficial but not required.

Additional details

The reference number for this position is NG59730. This is a permanent role in Johannesburg, offering a salary of R800,000 up to R1 million CTC per annum, negotiable based on experience.
