Haldane is a leading furniture design and manufacturing company known for our innovative designs and high-quality products. We are looking for a dedicated Industrial Design Technician to join our team and play a crucial role in our product development and documentation processes.

Permanent Position – Mid-level to senior role
Remuneration: R 30 000 – 40 000 (experience dependent)
Location: Cape Town, Salt River

Key responsibilities:

• Technical documentation: Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including technical drawings, 3D models, CAD files, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) using our MRP system.
• Product information management: Ensure that all product information on our website, price lists, and sales catalogues is accurate and up-to-date.
• MRP system Implementation: Analyse our current spreadsheet-based BOM system and rationalise it, implementing the data into Katana, our chosen new MRP system.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the design and engineering teams to ensure that all technical aspects of our products are accurately documented and communicated.
• Quality control: Conduct regular reviews and updates of technical documents to ensure consistency and compliance with company standards.
• Data management: Organise and manage technical data and documents, ensuring they are easily accessible and well-structured.

Requirements:

• Education: A degree or diploma in industrial design, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous experience in a similar role in the furniture or manufacturing industry essential.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in CAD software preferably Rhino, and experience with MRP systems, preferably Katana. Graphic Design software, such as Photoshop, Indesign and Wordpress beneficial.
• Technical knowledge: Construction Methods and Materials with a focus on furniture manufacture methods and technology.
• Attention to detail: Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Accountability: Professional, able to work independently and under the direction of the lead design director.
• Team player: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment and collaborate with various departments, including external suppliers and manufacturers.
