×Show profile Hide profileOn an academic level, Eugene has completed his Master's Degree in Business Administration; Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration; Senior Management Programme; Future Business Development Programme and is a certified "Future Business Analyst", he is also qualified as an International Business Coach and studied at the University of Pretoria; University of Cape Town Business School, the University of Stellenbosch Business School and the Management College of Southern Africa.
Eugene has worked in the retail industry for over 25 years covering all aspects of retail including, manufacturing, apparel, supermarket, general retailers, electronics and furniture to name but a few.
Excluding his current position as CEO and academic director of Master Retailing, Eugene in the capacity of Managing Executive has successfully headed up six different brands all divisions of ALSI TOP 40 Companies listed on the JSE. Some of the brands not only had representation in South Africa, Africa, but also Europe. Many of the brands under his control have achieved numerous accolades by the likes of "Sunday Times and Markinor" top South African brands survey and within the applicable category having being voted the #1 brand in South Africa, other awards for other brands include being voted # 1 in "The Best of JHB" awards. The largest of the brands under his control produced an annual turnover in excess of R1bn, with a debtors ledger in excess of R1bn and a total staff compliment in excess of 2,000 employees.
Eugene has also consulted for numerous companies both locally and internationally on various retail business aspects and has also participated as a guest speaker for various well-known companies, he is also deemed an industry expert and a forum member for the well-known Coleman Research Group based out of London in the UK with offices in New York; Beijing and Hong Kong, as well as having also consulted for business analysts of Route One Investment Company based out of New York in the USA.
Eugene has also published numerous articles in various well known publications and has also been used as a key note speaker with local universities for Colloquiums discussing retail and business in general. He has developed various modules on retail and business for use in degree programs by a well-known local university business school as well as one of the leading European business schools for their International MBA program which content has for the last 3 years been rated as the #1 course content in Europe. He has subsequently also been approached by a leading university in the United Kingdom to provide similar assistance.
Eugene has also been a panel expert at the "Tomorrow's Leaders Convention" held at the Sandton Convention Centre, sponsored by W&RSETA. Eugene was also invited as a speaker to "Trade Conferences International" to address the Retail Credit Southern Africa Conference. Eugene is among others also a member of CGCSA (Consumer Goods Council of South Africa) and the SARC (South African Retail Council)
