    Q-Venture Holdings, Eaton Telecom merge

JOHANNESBURG: Two African telecommunications and information technology service providers, Q-Venture Holdings and Eaton Telecom Infrastructure, have merged to create a pan-African telecommunications infrastructure company.

Q-Venture Holdings builds and manages telecommunications infrastructure and provides IT service management solutions in 13 countries in Africa and the Middle East. Eaton Telecom Infrastructure is a UK-based company founded by Sanjiv Ahuja, former CEO of Orange Mobile, Alan Harper, former strategy director at Vodafone, and senior executives from Celtel/Zain, focused on owning and operating telecommunications infrastructure assets across Africa.

Alan Harper has been appointed as CEO of the newly merged company, which plans to build, acquire and operate telecommunications infrastructure assets for operators across Africa. Q-Venture's experience building and maintaining will be complemented by Eaton's knowledge and understanding of GSM mobile networks.

Chairman, Sanjiv Ahuja said, "The rapid growth in the telecommunications industry in Africa creates pressure on network operating costs and quality, operators are looking for innovative ways to do business. Shared tower ownership and operations is a vital part of this and the new company we have created is focused on becoming a leader in this field across the continent."

"The Eaton team brings tremendous international and African telecommunications experience and the merger, will position us as a leading player in the building, operating and owning of telecommunications infrastructure in Africa," says Keith Boyd, CEO of Q-Venture.
