Oyster Box gets Red Carnation touch

The Oyster Box Hotel, an elegant landmark of Umhlanga Rocks Durban, will reopen on 1 October 2009, under previous GM Wayne Coetzer. Among its attractions are a range of venues for events and conferences.
Oyster Box gets Red Carnation touch

The hotel was purchased by the Red Carnation Hotels Collection two years ago and the extensive renovations have retained its original old world charm but added sophistication and glamour. Not only does the hotel offer luxury accommodation but also conference, wedding and event venues.

Each of its four banqueting rooms is individually decorated. The hand-blown, crystal Venetian chandeliers in the mirrored ‘Pearl Room' add an air of luxury and opulence and when combined with the adjoining ‘Shell Room', can accommodate up to 160 people seated for a dinner function. Personal touches, such as the original memorabilia in the ‘July' and ‘Union Castle' Rooms are sure to conjure up interesting stories and memories alike.

In addition, the new property has a 24-seater movie theatre, offering special dinner, hot popcorn and movie packages for hotel guests and private hirers. A fully-equipped business centre with complimentary high-speed internet facilities is on hand for the business traveller.

The Red Carnation Hotels Collection in South Africa includes the Twelve Apostles in Cape Town, recent winner of ‘Top City Hotel in Africa and The Middle East' in Travel & Leisure's 2009 Awards and ‘The Best Hotel Spa In Africa and The Middle East' and Bushman's Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Spa in the Cedarberg Mountains, winner of ‘Best Hotel in The World' voted by Travel & Leisure 2009.
