Skip supports the #PassOnTheMagic campaign

Skip has partnered with The Princess Project, a local NGO, to ensure that more women have the opportunity to feel spectacular as they step out in a glamorous dress. The company wants South Africans to get involved in #PassOnTheMagic.

“Our priority is to care for your clothes and keep them looking beautiful," says Portia Gumede, brand building manager for Skip. "We understand the emotional attachment most women have to their clothes, and the memories evoked with certain garments. The Princess Project effectively takes a cocktail, matric farewell or any other formal dress that was extremely sentimental to someone, and passes it on to a new person to create an equally special occasion - passing on the magic.”

Skip loves the work and applauds the impact The Princess Project is having in communities around the country. Many families cannot afford to buy a matric dance dress for their daughters in their final year of school. This is where The Princess Project comes in. Working with the schools, they identify families who require assistance and provide dresses for the girls to use on the night.

Donation points

In 2016, Skip is passing on the magic with a hashtag #PassOnTheMagic and urging anyone with dresses hanging in the back of their closets to donate them to The Princess Project. Anyone can get involved by donating a dress or using the hashtag on their social media platforms from now until the end of May 2016.

It’s easy to donate; simply head to The Princess Project website to find the list of donation points in your area. Skip has also set up additional collection points for dresses at the SABC offices in Auckland Park, Durban and Cape Town.

If getting to a drop off point is tricky, use Sendr to arrange collection of your frock in these areas by logging a request on email to az.oc.rdnes@ofni.
