PetroSA not responsible for oil spill
Oil that washed up on Diaz Beach in Mossel Bay did not come from PetroSA and the puffy lumps of oil that were found on the beach were most likely to have originated from an unknown vessel that cleaned out the bunker tanks while at sea according to a report in Business Live.

Marine services company Smit Amandla says the investigation revealed that the contamination was blown in from the sea. The sample analysed by specialists at PetroSA's laboratory confirmed that the company did not produce the product found on the beach.
According a statement from PetroSA, the heaviest hydrocarbon product transported by sea is diesel whereas the hydrocarbon on the beach was from bunker fuels.
