Crystal Cruises' luxury liner the Crystal Serenity will visit Cape Town this Easter

The ship will leave Cape Town at 1400 on Saturday, marking the start of a seven-day cruise across the Atlantic to Buenos Aires.

The Crystal Serenity will dock in Montevideo, Uruguay, on 12 April for a nine-hour stopover before departing for Buenos Aires in Argentina, where it will arrive the following morning for a 33-hour stay. Two days at sea follow before the ship arrives at its final destination in Brazil, Rio, host to both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Passengers will enjoy three of the most famous ports in the world: spectacular Rio, with its exotic nightlife and world famous Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, all under the shadow of the famous Corcovado statue of Christ; sultry, sophisticated Buenos Aires; and, of course, one of the world's most famous landmarks, Table Mountain, which welcomes visitors to the southern tip of Africa.

The Crystal Serenity, at 68,000t and capable of serving 1,070 guests, has been consistently voted the number one cruise ship in the world by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller.

Originally built in 2003, the Crystal Serenity was redesigned and upgraded in 2013 at a cost of $17m. It now boasts a chic and contemporary design style, including industry firsts such as the chef's herb garden as part of its unique 'vertical walls' of greenery.
