Hoopla Creative provides a range of digital services to the Clover Mama Afrika project and saw fit to extend their dedication to the project by visiting one of the mamas that makes a substantial contribution to her community in showing their support for the 67 minutes initiative. "We are proud to be able to step outside the studio to show our support for one of the Clover Mama Afrika projects," said Miralda de Waal, Hoopla Creative's director. "Mandela day offers us a great opportunity to show our appreciation of Nelson Mandela's 67 years of dedication and to ensure that his legacy continues."

Empowering community caregivers

The Hoopla team prepared special party packs for the children and care packages for the senior citizens. The design team designed colouring-in pages for the children to enjoy, while the team encouraged the children to use the colour of expression to enjoy an afternoon of fun.

Mama Shirley founded the home in 1995, with the focus on providing a home for children as well as senior citizens. The Ebenezer Hannah Home takes care of 64 orphaned, abandoned as well as mentally or physically disabled children. The home also cares for 50 senior citizens who are in need of shelter and care or those who might be sick or live with disabilities.

In 2006, Mama Shirley joined the Clover Mama Afrika sisterhood of 36 ladies who actively make a difference in their communities. The key corporate social investment initiative for Clover, the Clover Mama Afrika project is based on a simple concept - empowering community caregivers with viable skills, which they in turn pass on to others, in order to earn a sustainable income for the community.

De Waal added, "The Hoopla team is impressed by the remarkable difference that Mama Shirley and her dedicated team make in their community. It is a pleasure to be able to spend a morning with those who inspire to be the change in their communities."
