African Bank has been named the Financial Services: Credit Provider category winner in the 2021 Top Companies South Africa (TCSA) Reputation Index virtual awards.

Kennedy Bungane, chief executive officer of African Bank, says the bank is honoured to have received the award, particularly at a time when stakeholders are generally looking more critically at companies and testing their authenticity.

“We have worked really hard over the last couple of years to build trust in our brand, always conscious of gaps where we can work harder to improve.

“We definitely view this as a journey as we embark on our new strategy to rapidly expand our offering and become the bank for the people, by the people, serving the people.

Customer satisfaction a core lever

“Customer satisfaction is one of our core sustainability levers and reminds us that for African Bank to be sustainable and future-fit, our customer must always remain at the centre of all that we do,” says Bungane.

The single biggest measure of corporate reputation in South Africa, the Index surveys over 200 companies annually with 2,600 participants.

Nthabiseng Mokake, MD of Media Torque and Events, says the Reputation Index gives a thorough ranking of South Africa’s most reputable companies.

“Reputation management is widely regarded as an important element in safeguarding the wellbeing of one’s corporate brand.

“The TCSA Reputation Index was created with the goal of identifying the factors that influence a company’s reputation, and thus its long-term viability and profitability.

““The reality is that companies can manage their reputation, but they can’t always control or predict it. Customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders have control over it,” says Mokake.
