Didn't get into university? There are other options...

But this is not the end of the road. There are numerous options available that will ensure a successful future and graduate entry into the workplace. Learners who have not obtained a Bachelor Degree pass can complete a Higher Certificate with registered private higher education institutions; this will then grant them access to further tertiary options, including degreed courses.
Private higher education institutions registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) offer degrees which are equal in status to those offered by public universities. Both public universities and private higher education institutions go through the same quality and registration processes, resulting in all degrees offered by the private higher education being recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority.
“Many people erroneously believe you may only pursue a degree and postgraduate studies up to doctoral level at a university. This is not correct. Now, more than ever, learners and fee-payers need to understand that there are other options available which offer equal quality and at cost comparable with the fees charged by the public university sector, notwithstanding that no government subsidy accrues to private higher education institutions,” says Stadio Higher Education Chief Academic Officer, Dr Divya Singh.
Many private higher education institutions are registered to offer qualifications in both the contact and distance learning modes of delivery and offer considerable benefits including state-of-the-art online platforms and systems. Covid-19 has forced many prospective students to re-think their approach to learning, with many opting for institutions that offer quality online learning platforms that will not be interrupted by possible further outbreaks of the coronavirus.
