Staff and alumni art exhibition at TUT

The Department of Fine and Applied Arts at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) is currently hosting a staff and alumni exhibition on its Arts campus. The exhibition is hosted in a new gallery that used to be one of the department's lecturing halls and that was transformed into an exhibition space.

The work on exhibition is wide-ranging and will be representative of the specialisation areas offered at the department. This includes glass-making, ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing and printed image (photography and printmaking).

An enjoyable reunion

"Previously, our diploma and degree students had to exhibit in borrowed or hired spaces, but now we have our own," says Carl Jeppe, lecturer at the department and curator of the exhibition. "It should not only prove to be a fabulous exhibition, but also an enjoyable reunion," he adds.

The work of 84 artists, including Jan van der Merwe, Jaco Benade, Ian Redelinghuys, Paula Louw, Ariana van Heerden, Olaf Bishoff, Kevin Roberts, Cecile Heystek, Ingrid Stevens, Andreas Schönfeldt, Basie Yssel, Retief van Wyk and Jeppe himself is exhibited. The exhibition runs until Friday, 18 May 2012.
