SA production company sued over non-payment
Charis Productions' Rudolf Markgraaff says the company will fight the court action. His attorney, Keane Harvey says the litigation stems from a work agreement that was reached with Dowhen to write material for a South African film, "The Lamb".
According to the print and electronic editions of the Cape Times, Dowhen was not paid and submitted a complaint to the Guild and asked it to assist him in getting paid. The Guild found in has favour and demanded payment from Charis in 2007. The following year a California court also ordered Charis Productions to pay Dowhen.
The Guild's local lawyers say that the money has still not been paid. Harvey insists that everything that was owed to the writer has been paid.
