King Pie Rockstar Rules YouTube tutorials

A 12-episode "King Pie Rock Star Rules" campaign, hosted by author and music industry professional David Chislett, will take place on the YouTube Channel. It is a series of short videos teaching young artists and managers the basics of the music business. The campaign started on Monday, 14 March, 2011.

"Education and upliftment are essential brand values for King Pie," said Nicholas Kühne, King Pie's marketing manager. "This series was a great opportunity for us to further develop the brand on the social networking platform, whilst supporting something educational in nature for aspiring musicians."

Book competition

Divided into 12 parts, the King Pie Rock Star Rules will come out once a week for 12 weeks. Each week, viewers will learn one crucial rule for being a South African "Rock Star", as explained by author David Chislett. At the end of each web episode, viewers have the chance to enter a competition and win themselves a copy of Chislett's book, 1,2,1,2: A step by step guide to the SA music industry.

The King Pie Rock Star Rules covers issues like the importance of protecting your copyright, staying ahead of the curve and making sure you have a plan.

Aimed at anyone wanting a career in music

"This is aimed at anyone wanting a career in music," explained Chislett. "No matter what genre or style of music you play, or how old or experienced you are, there are some good tips in here for you. It is great that King Pie sees value in the educationals and was prepared to put their name behind the initiative."

David Chislett has been giving workshops on the business aspects of the music industry for the last two years and now takes his expertise online together with sponsor King Pie.
