Naamsa November statistics delayed

The public release of the November 2014 automotive industry new vehicle and export sales statistics was delayed late on Monday‚ as statistics from Mercedes were still outstanding.

The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA (Naamsa) said in a statement that Mercedes-Benz SA (MBSA) said the company would in future only disclose aggregated new vehicle sales data to the Department of Trade and Industry for publication and public consumption via the departmental website.

The Department of Trade and Industry has undertaken to provide Lightstone Auto‚ the data service provider‚ and Naamsa with the MBSA sales data once received‚ Naamsa said.

"The departmental staff responsible to undertake this task is currently not in office and consequently we are only likely to receive the required information later today or during the course of tomorrow‚" Naamsa said.

"In the circumstances‚ it has been decided to delay the publication of the November‚ 2014 industry sales and export data until the MBSA figures have been received. Naamsa regrets the delay which are due to circumstances beyond our control‚" the association said.
