Guvon Hotel in heritage site battle

The Guvon Hotels & Spas Group has entered into legal battle with GDACE/Management Authority (COHWHS) regarding its rights to conduct legitimate business in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site.

Submitted legal documents indicate that the Guvon Group is questioning the legality of the GDACE/Management Authority appointment, as well as their right to interfere unilaterally in the way Guvon Hotels & Spas conduct its business affairs.

Guvon Hotels & Spas has invested heavily in the tourism industry within the Cradle of Humankind with 80 percent of its portfolio situated within this area. The five-star Kloofzicht Lodge, three-star Glenburn Lodge, Bush Willow Tented Camp and Chicama country spa are all situated in the Muldersdrift area.

“We believe that we have a very strong case and to that extent have already issued and served the necessary court papers on the various relevant respondents,” Guvon's, director legal and corporate services noted. “As we believe that the legal issues at hand are indeed incumbent on all business operations in the COH, we have invited interested and affected parties to participate in the legal process.”
