The Birchwood Hotel expands

The Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre is completing the last phase of its additional 215 hotel accommodation rooms, which are due to be completed by the end of April 2010. This will bring the total number of rooms to 665, which will complement the existing 50 conference and banqueting facilities.
The Birchwood Hotel expands

The hotel has, over the past 12 years, hosted major events and conference meetings, but it has, in the past, had to palm off rooms to neighbouring competitors. It will now be in a position to offer clients a one stop shop, avoiding the logistical problems associated with group accommodation being split.

The Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference facility was officially launched in 1998 with 80 rooms and two conference/meeting facilities. The hotel has since expanded and now covers 46 acres of prime land and provides free shuttle services to and from OR Tambo International Airport.

World Cup

With the 2010 FIFA World Cup approaching, the hotel is one of the major role players in hosting delegates from across many different countries during the 30 days of the tournament. We are one of the fortunate establishments in Gauteng to have confirmed accommodation and completed our contracts with delegates.

Situated 5km away from OR Tambo International Airport and 500 metres from the East Rand Mall shopping complex, the hotel boasts recreational facilities, five-a-side artificial football pitch, beach football pitch, running tracks, African boma area, lapa, and landscape gardens to match the entire property.
