Holi Festival of Colours comes to Durban

The original Holi Festival of Colours 2013 World Tour is now coming to Durban to transform Berea Rovers club on 28 December, 2013, into a multi-coloured dance floor. Part of more than 14 countries and over 38 cities worldwide, the festival rocked Joburg in September and Cape Town in October.
Holi Festival of Colours comes to Durban

The festival is one of the largest festivals in India announcing the arrival of spring and the passing of winter, and also marks the victory of the good over the bad. During the Holi celebrations, the caste system is out of force and all people are considered equal - the symbol of that being the colours. The Holi Festival celebrates the statement that all people are equally coloured. The Holi Festival of Colours is not a religious event in any way and is open to all races, religions and nationalities. The festival captures the spirit of Holi and the positive energy it preaches.

Every hour on the hour from 2pm a countdown culminates in party-goers throwing their powder into the air to create a massive explosion of colour. The coloured powder is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and allergen free. The powder is sold at the event for R20 per sachet with five different colours available.

Line-up

The line-up includes big names such as LCNVL, DJ Fresh, Pascal& Pearce and Napalma (live). The extended line-up will be released later this month.

Locnville (LCNVL) is a multi-award-winning and bestselling electronic duo consisting of twin brothers, Andrew and Brian Chaplin. Their latest offering, "Faster Longer Mixtape" has received mass critical acclaim, spawning the chart and topping singles Closer and The Year 3000.

The much-loved 5FM DJ Fresh dropped his law studies and pursued radio full time by joining YFM in 1997. Fresh was heading up the YFM breakfast team by 2003, followed by the morning show on Metro FM and was quickly snapped by 5FM shortly after that. His show is currently 5FM's most popular. He also has a list of successful house albums to his name.

Pascal and Pearce's success is not only at home in South Africa, but also tops the charts abroad, garnering international acclaim. The pair has done official remixes for local artists, such as Locnville, Goldfish, Flash Republic, Zebra & Giraffe, Goodluck and Lady Lea, and is continuously working on their sound in a way that is both organic and constantly evolving.
