"Throughout the lockdown, most of our hotels have remained open, strictly adhering to the directives of the South African government, initially working with embassies to accommodate international travellers and when intra provincial leisure travelling is allowed, we look forward to welcoming them too," said William McIntyre, regional director, Africa, Radisson Hotel Group.

"Our goal is to offer the best possible hotel stays for our guests and with that in mind, we have further strengthened our existing rigorous sanitation, cleanliness and disinfection guidelines to ensure all visitors have safe stays with us. We are thrilled to welcome our guests back."

The new guidelines include hand sanitising stations at all entrances, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and protective screens, enhanced and recorded cleaning and disinfection frequency, social distancing in all areas of its hotels, including in the Meeting & Event facilities, training in local, Centers for Disease Control, or World Health Organization recommendations and health guidelines, reiteration of food safety standards and comprehensive staff training.

Strict protocol measures

Commenting on the hotels' meetings and events offering, McIntyre said: "Our hotels are accommodating conferences up to 50 pax, strictly following the government guidelines and our established 10-step Meetings and Events protocol, to ensure attendees confidence and peace of mind at every touchpoint. We have already hosted a number of conferences at our hotels and are proud of the fantastic feedback we’re constantly receiving from attendees."

This in-depth cleanliness and disinfection protocols has been created in partnership with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company.

"With most of our hotels remaining open throughout the lockdown, it provided us with a significant advantage as we were able to implement the new safety protocols and provide thorough training to our teams much earlier on," said McIntyre.

The Radisson Hotels in South Africa are located in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Polokwane and are conveniently situated in the cities business hubs as the ideal base for business travelers and close to key attractions and landmarks, boasting unmatched views, perfect for the leisure traveller.

McIntyre continued: "As soon as it is allowed, staycations will certainly be on the rise, as the public long for a change of scenery, while adhering to the restrictions and adjusting to the new normal after being at home for over 100 days. Our hotels are fully prepared to welcome guests for a memorable staycation, whether it be for romance, family bonding or self-reflection.

"Our hotels have great staycation deals on offer and our teams are prepped and ready to ensure every guest has a safe and memorable experience," concluded McIntyre.

Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol includes 20 Steps and an additional 10-Step protocol for meetings and events.

These steps include:
