PPRA CEO Mamodupi Mohlala suspended pending forensic investigation

Mamodupi Mohlala, CEO of the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA), has been placed on precautionary suspension with full pay following allegations made by a whistleblower related to "staff appointments and pension fund deductions".

City Press had reported earlier this year that human settlements minister Mmamoloko Kubayi had instructed the then Estate Agency Affairs Board to investigate all staff appointments following Mohlala's appointment, as well as the status of the pension fund "for irregularities and noncompliance with legislation, rules and regulations".

The PPRA has said that Mohlala's suspension is "by no means suggesting a guilty verdict on the part of the CEO".

In a statement issued earlier this week, the PPRA said, "The board unanimously believes that it is in the best interest of the organisation to place the CEO on suspension to allow for an objective, independent and impartial investigation into the allegations. The chief executive has been duly informed of the allegations against her."

Deli Nkambule, who has been the legal manager, and enforcement and compliance executive at the PPRA, has been appointed the acting chief executive of the organisation.
