Two new countries for AB7

Two new countries, Ireland and Portugal, have joined this year's Africa's Big Seven food and beverage expo, which runs from 30 June to 2 July 2013 at Gallagher.

"We know from our research and the growing number of enquiries we receive, that Africa is the place to be!" says Anil Kheton, CEO of Akay Ireland. "That is why we are excited to be at Africa's Big Seven for the first time to present exciting products new to the African market, in addition to some well-known brands." The company is renowned for its range of spirits, household goods and over 80 different brands of beers. It deals with more than 1200 brands from some of the largest manufacturers in Europe. It exports these to markets in North Africa, the Middle East and the US. Recent additions to its product portfolio include Perrier Water, Heinz Tomato Ketchup and Ceres Royal Pilsner Beer.

Gallo is a premium Portuguese olive oil ranked the fifth biggest olive oil brand worldwide. It is sold in more than 45 countries on five continents. The highly popular brand, which has won many international awards and medals, will make its first appearance at AB7 this year. According to business development manager Carlos Goncalves, it is a brand that resonates with Portuguese life. "Gallo has been creating olive oils since 1919 and even today there are no additives or preservatives in our products. That is the image we want to project at AB7." Apart from showcasing its regular range of products already available in South Africa, it will tempt visitor taste buds with some new premium products, including a unique peri peri range.
