Potato industry awards McCain's Dr Ben Pieterse

Dr Ben Pieterse recently awarded the Solanum Tuberosum Meritum Award for excellent performance.

This is the highest accolade presented in the South African potato industry. The award is given to individuals or organisations that make a significant contribution to the success of the potato industry and strive to play a leadership role in sustainable potato production in South Africa.

Recipients of this award are honoured by the potato industry for their continuous high performance and commitment to the interests of all industry role players.

Pieterse leads the McCain agronomy team in screening, developing and establishing highly competitive processing potato varieties for the Delmas factory. He also manages technology transfer to the extension team and farmers and liaises with other role players in the local and international potato processing industry.
