Study finds diabetes out of control in many countries

While one might expect people with diabetes to perhaps be less than optimally cared for in third world countries, one might not expect this in a first world country such as the US. However, according to a Reuters report, US researchers said this week that many people with diabetes in the US do not get adequate treatment, and this is true as well of many other countries around the world.

Hence, the findings suggest that millions of people with diabetes are undiagnosed, or do not receive the treatment they need - and that puts them at risk of complications such as blindness, kidney disease, complications of the feet that can lead to amputation, and even an early death from heart disease.
