Kenya's yuMobile launches Gmail SMS

yuMobile, a mobile network operator in Kenya, has joined the Gmail SMS chat service providing its subscribers with a platform to chat with Google mail users via the short message service.

The service which is real-time, is free to receive messages on any yuMobile number but to respond to Google mail chat messages, subscribers will have to send a SMS which costs KSh 3.

The Gmail SMS service is the latest addition to the yuMobile product stable.

Speaking at the launch of the new product, yuMobile country manager, Madhur Taneja said, "We are proud to empower our subscribers from all walks of life with the ability to enjoy the benefits of real-time communication. With the introduction of this service, our subscribers can turn their mobile phones into full-function personal communications device. The service is more convenient, secure and easy to use."
