GfK expects moderate rise in Germans' 2013 purchasing power

NUREMBERG, GERMANY: The 'GfK Purchasing Power Germany 2013' study shows that in 2013, Germans will have around €554 more per capita in nominal disposable income than in 2012. However, there are strong regional variations in the consumption potential of the German population. For the first time, Baden-Württemberg will overtake the federal state of Hesse to take third place in the ranking.

Around 92% of Germans plan to spend an average of €241* on Christmas presents this year, which is almost as much as in 2010. Technical consumer goods market at four-year high

NUREMBERG, GERMANY: The German market for technical consumer goods grew by 3.7% to €13.1 billion* in the fourth quarter of 2010. According to GfK Retail and Technology, the technical consumer goods market also recorded value growth of 3.7% for the year as a whole, with total sales of €44.3 billion. These represent the highest quarterly and full-year values since GfK TEMAX® Germany was introduced in 2007.
