Show profile Hide profileMy name is Qamani Doko originally from the Eastern Cape, currently residing in Pretoria, Gauteng. I have a background in the crop protection sector in particular my main areas have been pre-planting treatments, fertilizer application and post harvesting technology. I have been involved in rural development (through Agriseta in my undergrad studies) where I have helped many subsistence farmers in the Eastern Cape by providing my knowledge and skills in producing high quality and consumer based for agronomic crops. I have done my post graduate studies through the University of Pretoria whereby my main focal area was plant production. Skills obtained included soil preparation, soil testing and soil analysis, fertilizer mixing and fertilizer application as well as irrigation application and irrigation management. I am also experienced in the Development and production of both agronomic and horticultural crops in a sustainable and efficient way. Administrative skills involved agricultural legislature from national government to local government and dealing with rural development modeling and indices.
I am currently pursuing my last year in M Agric specializing in Horticulture. My main focus in my project has been based on the water usage of commercial farms that contribute greatly in the country's GDP such as the Du Toit Family Group in the Western Cape. By developing a crop water use model, farmers will be able to know and understand how much water they need for sustainable quality yields.
