×Show profile Hide profileSouth African photographer, Dewald Daniels, studied Art and Design before leaving Bloemfontein in 2000 to work as a photographic assistant in Cape Town.
For six years he assisted local and international photographers, learning technical skills but also gaining broad experience in production and management. His travels during this time took him to London, Paris and Amsterdam, where he was involved mainly with fashion photography.
On his return to South Africa he started working for magazines such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire, Foschini magazine and Edgars Club magazine. A 20-page men's supplement for Elle, an Elle/Woolworths Fresh New Faces campaign and a cover and eight-page Kelly Rowland story for Cosmopolitan stand out as highlights.
Daniels is now an accomplished professional who is known for his discipline and commitment but also for his ability to create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere on set. Experience in all aspects of the business has given him an appreciation of the logistical demands, the role of each team member and the importance of creating an environment that draws the best from his subjects.
His enthusiasm for his work is infectious; he is inspired by the creative people in the industry and approaches each day as a new and exciting challenge. He is interested in all genres of photography but has specialized in fashion. His desire to keep expanding and honing his skills is now taking him into the field of retail and advertising.
