Daniel van der Merwe graduated in architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1988. He was a senior lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. Van der Merwe was at the Cement and Concrete Institute from 2008 until May 2013 heading the architectural concrete focus area. He joined PPC in May 2013 as an architect and is part of the specialist technical marketing and innovation division.
