Grain futures mostly higher as weak rand environment persists

South African grain futures were mostly higher on Friday as the weaker rand continued to support local commodity prices.

At the close of market‚ the white maize contract due for delivery in July 2015 was down R3.80 to R2‚602.20 a ton and the September 2015 contract had climbed R3.40 to R2‚643.40 a ton. The December 2015 contract lifted R1 to R2‚687 a ton.

The yellow maize contract due for delivery in July 2015 rose by R8.80 to R2‚384.80 a ton‚ the September 2015 contract was up by R5 to R2‚418 a ton and the December 2015 yellow maize contract ended R11 higher at R2‚454 a ton.

The wheat contract due for delivery in July 2015 rallied R18 to R3‚860 a ton‚ the September 2015 contract climbed R13 to R3‚855 a ton and the December 2015 wheat contract lifted R57 to R3‚790 a ton.
