CT drops opposition to Maiden's Cove review application

Since then, the city has opposed the review application. On Friday, 12 October, however, the city announced that having considered the concerns raised by residents, non-profit organisations, and others, it has decided against opposing the review application.
The proposed development of the area includes plans for 52 residential homes, a boutique hotel, retail and restaurant spaces, and a parking garage for 700 vehicles.
Writing in the Daily Maverick, former Constitutional Court judge Albie Sachs says that the Constitution and law places “insurmountable barriers to the realisation of the council’s project” as the council is legally obliged to preserve the area as a public trust.
