Sernick receives beef industry award for cattle improvement

The purpose of the award is to acknowledge breeders who excel in several criteria related to performance testing, genetic improvement, breeding, and management.
Bonsmara bull, NFS 14 0204 of the Sernick Bonsmara Stud was one of three bulls who were awarded with an ARC National Platinum Bull Award. This category is often affectionately referred to as ‘The best of the best.’ For a bull to qualify for a Platinum Award, it must be bred from a dam that has performed exceptionally well and received an Elite Cow award. Furthermore, the bull should have received a Gold Merit in the ARC’s Phase C test.
The awards were presented by the National Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme (NBRIS) of the ARC and aims to showcase South Africa’s most outstanding achievers, in breeding genetically superior animals by using performance recording as a tool.
