Suncoast supports COP17 by going green

Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World will be going green from 28 November 2011 in keeping with Durban's status as host city for COP17.

As South Africa and Durban get ready to host the 17th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP17) from 28 November to 9 December, Suncoast will embrace a multifaceted environmentally-friendly Shine Green campaign.

All stops have been pulled out to reduce energy utilisation, reclaim water and recycle waste as the casino does its fair bit to reduce a global climate crisis in a sustainable and responsible manner, which will be managed on an ongoing basis.

The SUNcafe will come alive from 28 November to 17 January 2012 where guests will be able to enjoy an eco-friendly way to soak up the sun and enjoy refreshments throughout the day. All refrigerators at the SUNcafe will be solar powered, and all drinks will be served in biodegradable cups.

Eco centre to provide useful information

The SUNeco Centre will be accessible to all guests at the western entrance and will highlight the exciting green initiatives. There will also be educational and useful tips on how the public can make their lives greener, and how even a small contribution can make a huge difference.

"Pledge your own contribution to making your world a healthier, safer and greener place to live in and show your support for COP17 by signing the landmark SUNglobe that will be unveiled on 28 November," says Louise Howell, Suncoast's marketing manager. The SUNglobe will be signed by local celebrities and members of the public can pledge their support for saving the environment.
