Nedbank and The Sports Trust distribute soccer kits

Three primary schools from Parow, Du Noon and Phillipi met their football heroes and received soccer kits and training equipment as part of Nedbank's sports development programme in partnership with The Sports Trust.
The boys received a coaching clinic and tips from the likes of Dominic Isaacs, Nathan Paulse, Granwald Scott and Anssi Jaakola at the Ikamva Sports Complex.
The schools that benefited are:
- St Augustines Roman Catholic Primary School
- Sophakama Primary School
- Qinqa Mntwana Primary School
In the past few years, the Nedbank Sports Trust soccer development programme has reached more than 500 schools at an investment in excess of R60 million. "As a bank for all, Nedbank is committed to enabling our clients and communities to make things that really matter happen. For some of these learners, today could prove to be the ideal foundation needed for them to make their football dreams a reality. Education and sports development are key building blocks in society and we are heavily involved in both. We are humbled to have played that role for these learners at this important stage of their lives" said Tobie Badenhorst; Portfolio Manager for Nedbank Group Sponsorships.
The opportunity to play soccer

During this year's Nedbank Cup season, 100 schools from across the country will receive soccer kits and training equipment worth R1 million towards sports development and encouraging learners to achieve their goals.
To date, Nedbank has donated over R20 million to support sport development projects in South Africa through The Sports Trust. The programme is made possible through the Nedbank Affinity Programme, which enables clients to support the development of sport through its banking products, at no cost to them.
The Sports Trust was established in September 1995 as a joint venture between the private and public sectors - all with a shared goal of providing opportunities to play sport to all South Africans, at all levels, across all sporting codes. Executive Director Anita Mathews, says, "The Sports Trust continues to implement sport development projects together with its trustee, Nedbank, to ensure that the opportunity of playing soccer and general sport is afforded to as many school children as possible. Playing sport provides the children with life skills, a sense of responsibility, team work and a positive attitude. It also keeps them away from the social ills of society. Through this partnership with Nedbank we are able to continue to "make the things that really matter happen".
