Webinar to discuss giving around the globe
Leading global organisations in corporate giving are hosting an international webinar on Thursday, 19 November, from 3pm-4pm - which stakeholders can access free by registering online.
The webinar is a great opportunity for local organisations to gain insights as to how giving in South Africa compares with other parts of the world, specifically Brazil and Abu Dhabi. There will also be input on the 2017 Giving Around the Globe international research report, a treasure chest of insights and best practices on how business can be a force for good.
South African corporate social investment consultancy Trialogue will present African findings, together with Brazilian non-profit organisation Comunitas, and the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group.
The webinar has been organised by Business in the Community and the CECP Global Exchange, which empowers corporations to be a force for good in society. Trialogue is the Southern African local authority of CECP.
Trialogue MD Nick Rockey says: “This is an opportunity for stakeholders to update themselves on international best practices. Contributors will reflect on corporate community investment findings around the globe and share insights on regional nuances.”
Comunitas is based in São Paulo, Brazil and mainly focuses on municipal public management. The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group has four flagship programmes in the United Arab Emirates which cover sustainable procurement, information and communication technologies, labour practices and waste management. Trialogue shares its knowledge through its annual handbook and conference, training programmes and forums, consulting and reporting services.
According to the Giving Around the Globe report, investors are increasingly taking into account how companies care for the environment, engage in societal issues and have good governance in place. This trend is supported by the latest technology, which makes it easier to measure factors that influence brand value and are associated with long-term financial success.
Giving Around the Globe’s African research is based on input from the Ackerman Pick n Pay Foundation, Barloworld, Datatec, Eskom, Gold Fields, Massmart, Mediclinic, MMI Holdings, MTN Group, Nedbank, Sappi and Steinhoff International.
