Arms deal commission postponed

According to Mail & Guardian the arms deal inquiry has been adjourned until 19 August 2013. The commission faces the setback of the declassification of certain documents.

"Commission chair Judge Willie Seriti agreed to a request from lawyers of the defence department for the issue of the declassification of documents before the commission to be 'dealt with'," says the report.

The commission, led by Supreme Court of Appeal Judge Willie Seriti, was set up by President Jacob Zuma in October 2011, to look into allegations of fraud, corruption, impropriety or irregularity in the Strategic Defence Procurement Package.
