Transnet clears backlog, ups productivity
Transnet spokesman John Dludlu said the parastatal had managed to clear all backlogs in all areas of the business including the Durban Container Terminal, which was the worst hit.
To assist in recovering volumes lost during the industrial action, specialist teams, which were deployed during the strike, continue to operate across the business.
"We are making steady progress on improving volumes," Dludlu said.
"We are satisfied with the progress thus far and we are pleased that in most areas of business, productivity levels are higher than the pre-strike period," he said.
The transport parastatal faced a massive backlog as a result of the industrial action, which started on 10 May and ended on 27 May.
The industrial action had paralysed the company's rail, port and pipeline operations.
