The hotel is well positioned for travellers to explore all that Cape Town has to offer. At the entrance to the V&A Waterfront and the city centre, it is also a mere 20-minute drive from Cape Town International Airport and within close proximity to Cape Town's famous beaches.

Southern Sun Waterfront has recently embarked on an extensive refurbishment which will see R100m invested in this landmark 546-roomed property. This major project is scheduled for completion by the beginning of December 2014. The refurbishment aims to enhance the hotel's service delivery, update the facilities and give the property a stylish new look.

Phase 1 in progress

Phase 1 of the upgrade is in progress. The porte cochere is being completely redone and modernised. Painting of the stylish and striking Art Deco façade is nearing completion and a full makeover of the lobby restrooms has been completed.

The refurbishment includes the creation of an additional nine luxurious suites and an elegant makeover of all existing rooms and bathrooms. The new décor, finishes and striking prints of the colourful Bo-Kaap area reflect the hotel's modern and chic Art Deco style. For added convenience and comfort, rooms have additional storage space, a larger workspace for business travellers, high speed WiFi and a mini bar fridge which will be stocked on request.

Jeff Rosenberg, General Manager of the Southern Sun Waterfront, commented: "Our focus remains the delivery of service excellence to all our guests. This will be greatly enhanced by the hotel's fresh new look and feel."
