Bikers and Bakwena support disabled children

Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire has helped to add considerable value to the lives of handicapped children in Limpopo, through its consistent funding of the Nappy Rally.

The organisation Bikers That Care hosts the Nappy Rally annually in May in Bela-Bela (Warmbaths) in aid of Huis Talje, which is a home that cares for mentally and physically disabled children. The most recent Nappy Rally was held from 10 to 12 May, 2013.

Bakwena has supported the initiative by providing funding over the last four years, which has resulted in much-needed food and nappy supplies being filtered to Huis Talje.

Bikers That Care chairman, Chris Briel, noted that Bakwena's involvement is crucial in helping the Nappy Rally meet its objectives: "In order to ensure that the Nappy Rally is successful and that we can reach our goal of providing Huis Talje with a full year's supply of nappies, Bikers That Care relies heavily on the support of corporate companies. We are therefore delighted that a major company such as Bakwena has consistently provided the Nappy Rally with financial assistance. By supporting this cause, they are making a tremendous difference in the lives of numerous needy children."

Clothing, food or simply love

Huis Talje Children's Home, which was founded in 1999 focuses on the frail care of the children it houses, and plays a vital role in taking care of their needs whether it is clothing, food or simply love they require.

Its management committee is made up of local volunteers and the local community helps with donations of food, clothing, equipment and labour.

Bakwena's CEO, Graeme Blewitt, concluded that the company's consistent involvement in the Nappy Rally aligns to its core goals: "Bakwena believes wholeheartedly in the importance of caring for vulnerable members of society and, in particular, creating better lives for people within the vicinity of our toll roads. We are therefore proud to have been able actively to contribute to the Nappy Rally over the last few years, and to have played our part in providing a basis for handicapped children to have bright futures."
