Vodacom cuts data pricing

Vodacom has announced that it will reduce data pricing and this will result in savings of up to 43% for individual consumers. Vodacom chief executive Pieter Uys says that from Monday, 1 August 2011, Vodacom users will pay seven cents a megabyte for data downloads.

Uys says that Vodacom customers will automatically be migrated to the new tariffs. Those customers using the MyMeg 110 data bundle will pay just R49 for the service compared with R88 paid previously.

Vodacom has added 107 3G base stations to its network and its customer based has increased to 45,4-million users in South Africa according to figures contained in its quarterly report for June.
