Adcorp slams job cuts in SA

City Press quotes Adcorp's chief executive, Richard Pike as saying that the powerful labour unions had tried to fend off massive job losses but "companies still used the recession to get rid of workers".

Solidarity's deputy secretary-general Gideon du Plessis supports this view saying that about 30% of companies where the union is active had exploited the recession to get rid of workers, boost profits and put more wealth in shareholders' pockets.
