KZN hasn't paid its TV licence bill
It quotes SABC team leader, Zamambo Mkhize as saying that the parliament's assistance is needed in forcing the government departments in that province to pay up.
The SABC says that the education department is the leading defaulter as it owes R1,3-million to the corporation. The IFP Member of the Provincial Legislature, Linda Mncwango wanted to know how such an enormous bill for licences fees had accrued.
She undertook to write to the Education MEC Senzo Mchunu demanding answers.
It seems unlikely that the huge provincial bill is from schools in the province as, in terms of the SABC's own definitions, public schools are the only educational institutions that are exempt from having television licences.
