INSOL International is a world-wide federation of national associations for accountants and lawyers who specialise in turnaround and insolvency. There are currently 40 member associations world-wide with over 10,000 professionals participating members. The federation also has ancillary groups that represent the judiciary, regulators, lenders and academics and who play an invaluable role and provide valuable forums for discussions of mutual problems.

    Player on world stage

"To have the privilege of being the first African vice-president in the organisation's 33 year history is significant given the fact that Africa has long been in the spotlight - often for the wrong reasons - but is now taking its place as a player on the world stage," said Harris. "Having a developed, sophisticated and appropriate restructuring and insolvency regime is one of the bricks in the wall of corporate life of a country."

INSOL International was formed in 1982 and has grown in stature to become the leading insolvency association in the world. It is a valuable source of professional knowledge, which is being put to use globally on diverse projects to the benefit of the business and financial communities.

"INSOL International does important work in assisting in the development of standards and best practices, not only on the African continent, but indeed worldwide. It really is an honour to be involved," concluded Harris.
