Red Bull Academy makes its way to Durban

The Red Bull Amaphiko Academy is an eight-day residential camp that forms the beginning of an 18-month mentorship programme to enable people with social impact initiatives, projects and businesses. It concludes with the Amaphiko Festival, which is open to the public and broader community that will be held on 22 June 2019.
The aim of the Red Bull Amaphiko Academy is to offer crucial support to grass-roots social entrepreneurs by providing them with mentorship, coaching and assistance to unlock various business opportunities.
Since the first edition in Soweto, in 2014, the Red Bull Amaphiko Academy has spread to São Paulo (2015), Cape Town (2015), Pretoria (2017) and Baltimore (2017), where it continues to empower changemakers committed to social good.
This year will see a new breed of 14 local social entrepreneurs go through a week-long academy. The Red Bull Amaphiko Academy has had 50 local and over 100 international SEs benefit from the programme.
Founder of ChemStart and Amaphiko alumni, Bathabile Mpofu commented, “The academy is the perfect springboard for any social entrepreneur looking to make a change in their community. It taught me that I could do anything I put my mind to! If one goes to the academy with an open mind, they will be bound to demolish any limiting beliefs.”
