Talking film with AFDA at the Jozi Film Festival

The talks will take place at the Goethe Institut on Jan Smuts Ave from 17-18 September 2016, with speakers like Paul Raleigh (Hollard), Dan Jawitz (Fireworx Media), Ernest Nkosi (dir:Thina Sobabili), Jeremy Nathan (film producer), Robbie Thorpe (producer), Danie Bester (film producer, The Film Factory) as well as Lee Hobbs, Vice President of Channels, Emerging Business at Discovery Networks in attendance.
“The AFDA and Jozi Film Festival talks is an ideal platform for young filmmakers to get together to discuss the challenges and opportunities of future content production and distribution,” says AFDA co-founder and chairman, Garth Holmes.
“We are thrilled to be working alongside AFDA in bringing relevant speakers to the table to discuss the future of the local film industry – from film finance and distribution to script development and the latest advances in technologies, we feel we have a wide-ranging and thought provoking series of talks of offer. We are a community in this industry and supporting a growing network of local filmmakers is part of what we do. Our thanks to Goethe for hosting us again this year,” says JFF’s Lisa Henry.
Tickets are available via Quicket through both the Jozi Film Festival website and the AFDA website. An all weekend pass, inclusive of lunch on both days will be R200 while a one-day pass (with lunch) will cost R120. Talks run from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-3:30pm on Sunday. A detailed breakdown of the programme will be available on both JFF and AFDA websites this week.
