This years festival includes AFDA Durban who boast their first group of 3rd year students. A number of 80 graduate productions from the respective campuses will exhibit; 51 live action short films, 7 animation short films, 9 pilot television episodes, 8 music performance shows and 5 stage theatre productions.
"The annual AFDA festival is a perfect opportunity not only to showcase the school as an institution, but is an ideal moment in a student's career path to show their work to the industry. It is a vital moment for the students as it is their final year end exam where they are assessed by the public. This moment is a calumniation of talent enjoyed by all and the time we all look forward to" says Franco Human, AFDA Durban Dean.
All the productions are assessed by industry professionals, AFDA learning staff members and most importantly the public. The graduation production constitutes 50% of the complete students assessment for the year. "This is a critical aspect of the AFDA learning system which encourages students to create market related and culturally relevant entertainment content." says AFDA Co-Founder and CEO Bata Passchier.
AFDA is also honoured to host The School of Art and Communications of Beijing University at this years festival. The Beijing University will screen three films at the AFDA Cape Town festival.
More information will be made available on www.afda.co.za/student-work/graduation-festival from 19 October 2015.
