Young artists' work on show at CIT:Y Festival

An exhibition of Johannesburg's top young creative students' award-winning work, including photography, sculpture, painting and prints from this year's CIT:Y Festival, is on show at Museum Africa until 31 October 2009.

Sponsored by the City of Johannesburg: Directorate: Arts, Culture and Heritage, Arts Alive and the MTN SA Foundation, the CIT:Y Festival 2009 rewards excellence across a range of creative disciplines and provides students in the visual and performing arts with further motivation to make their mark.

Students compete in five categories: Craft and Design; Dance; Film and Broadcast; Music; and Visual Arts, with R130 000 in bursaries being awarded to the winning students.

Students and institutions taking part in CIT:Y Festival '09 are: AFDA, Artist Proof Studios, Big Fish School of Digital Filmmaking, Damelin (Bramley), Greenside Design Centre, the Imbali Visual Literacy Project, the Market Photo Workshop, Moving Into Dance Mophatong, NEMISA, University of Johannesburg (FADA), Vuyani Dance Theatre, and Wits School of the Arts.

The exhibition is curated by Bie Venter and entrance is free.
