Based on the book of the same name by Sophie Kinsella, Confessions of a shopaholic tells the tale of Rebecca (Becky) Bloomswood an aspiring fashion journalist with a passion for pretty things, a voracious shopping appetite and consequently a huge amount of debt. After the company that she works for goes under Becky try's to bag her dream job as editor of uber glamorous fashion mag Alette. She is unfortunately beaten to the position by the elegant and leggy Alicia (Leslie Bibb) and ironically is forced to take the position of advice columnist in Successful Saving; a financial magazine. It is here that she learns many lessons about life, money and love with quite a few of them coming from her very boyishly pretty boss Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy).
Fischer does a good job of capturing Becky's naivety and shallowness while at the same time being quite a likeable character but ultimately the movie does little to inspire, Confessions of a Shopaholic is entertaining and funny in parts but on the whole is quite fluffy and insubstantial.
